Chisuk Emuna: About Our Hebrew School
For many years, Chisuk Emuna Congregation has sponsored a Hebrew School known for its dedicated teachers and intimate learning environment. Our Hebrew School has been awarded the Framework for Excellence from the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism. Our school has met rigorous standards in professional development, curriculum development and family education that provide the children of our congregation with a quality Jewish education that will serve them well as they mature into high school and college students and adulthood.

Preschool
Shabbat programming for our youngest children is provided through our Pray and Play program, facilitated by Jodie Raffensperger for children ages 4-7. The programming includes games, stories, and activities designed to educate children about Shabbat, holidays, and Israel in an engaging and entertaining way. Pray and Play is scheduled for 10 sessions throughout this year. Please check the calendar for specific dates.

Adult Ed
Various programs are offered throughout the year. This fall we will be offering a series on ethical issues we may encounter in the beginning of life, middle of life and end of life. We will introduce case studies and discuss with a panel of professionals topics such as prenatal genetic testing, organ donation, withholding and withdrawing life support as well as various other topics. The Adult Education Committee also offers a monthly Book Club. For more information on any of the programs please refer to our monthly bulletin or contact Wendy Shaffer at 717-545-5488.

B'nai Tzedek
The Jewish Community Foundation of Central Pennsylvania, in conjunction with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and the Pitnick Family Fund, has developed the B’nai Tzedek program to introduce teens to the joys and pleasures of tzedakah. The B’nai Tzedek program, Hebrew for "children of justice," teaches teens about the value and rewards of philanthropy and provides an exciting way to become involved with local Jewish agencies, organizations and synagogues.
The program enables Bar or Bat Mitzvah age and older teens in the Greater Harrisburg area to establish a grant-making endowment fund in his or her own name. This fund will support the Jewish organizations of their choice. Each participant will make a minimum contribution of $250 to establish his or her fund. The contribution will be matched by generous sponsors in the Harrisburg area, creating a $500 fund. The fund will grow through investment appreciation. Additional contributions can be made at any time.
This fund will be the youth’s personal "donor-advised" fund with the Jewish Community Foundation, enabling him or her to make a real and important impact on our Jewish community.

Yeshiva
As a constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg,
